Nick Kettles MA
Freelance writer, broadcaster, creative consultant and life coach.
Other people often say I’m a natural catalyst for the words, ideas and passion which most clearly expresses their purpose. All I know is that I’m passionate about storytelling and personal development, and happy when I can combine the two to help others flourish to their full potential.
I’ve been a professional freelance writer for 18 years; a creative consultant for 10, and Life Coach for four. It’s been a journeyman’s career, and over the years I’ve seen a few sights…
As a freelance writer and copywriter I’ve created marketing communications for brands such as Canon, Arup Engineering, Microsoft, Deloitte Touche, Hewlett Packard, and British Telecom, but today through my Visionary Brilliance program and as a Co-Active trained life coach, prefer to help individuals and businesses in the personal development, sustainability and arts sectors, to find their unique voice.
This can take the form of personal branding, one to one life coaching through to the development of a full range of Internet Marketing tools.
Whatever I’m doing, I like to draw on the inspiration of the crafts movement of William Morris, to view every commission, as a work of art, worthy of meticulous care and attention. This is the least I can do in a world in which the media and business is intent on sacrificing quality for a fast turnover of content.
As a freelance journalist I’ve been a regular contribuitor to the Observer, The Times, Independent, The Ecologist, Resurgence and numerous trade journals you’ll more likely to hear about on ‘Have I Got News For You’; writing widely about everything from personal finance, consumer rights, Internet Marketing, plumbing, local government, education, ethical business, health, personal development, spirituality, and naturally, climate change, sustainability and the environment.
I’m proud to be the co-author of Working Ethically published by AC Black, and recommended by Management Today magazine as ‘best of its kind’, and now available everywhere it seems. I’ve also recently written and co-produced BBC Radio 4’s recent documentary ‘The Landfill Designers’.
As a long time spiritual seeker, meditator and former house holder monk, I’ve become long in the tooth about the mainstream media’s general cynicism about the role of spirituality and self help in the transformation of society, and instead dedicated myself to using the power of the internet to self publish my inspiration. Most recently this has resulted in the self publication of an ebook parable, The All-Seeing Boy and the Blue Sky of Happiness, for adults and children, which has been downloaded over a 1000 times, and praised by the Dalai Lama.
In a similar vein my latest project Plan C, is a vehicle for reaching the tribe of people who already instinctively know that the only revolution we need is one that happens from the inside out. Ultimately, it is who we are being in the world which defines what we do, not the other way round.
I live with my partner Priya, daughters Asha and Eloa and numerous pets at our home near the Pyrenees, in SW France.
I have a BA Hons in Journalism, and a MA in Radio and TV Scriptwriting.
